Steve said these signs were everywhere up there. They just let people use the life jackets for the kids and then return them when they are done.

They saw a lot of bald eagles while they were there.

One of the rivers they fished on. This is actually where Steve caught his biggest salmon.
Yep, they boys were ecstatic to have their daddy's back!
Splitting up the fish-

Steve finally got to take his long awaited vacation to Alaska. This is something that he and his buddy Talon have been planning for a long time. It has been one of his dreams to go fishing in Alaska and I am so happy that it has finally happened for him. He keeps asking me why I have not posted pictures on the blog yet..... So, here they are. They were gone for 10 days, which in the end was too long for both of them I think. They flew into Anchorage and then hopped in a rental car for the long drive to Homer. They did three charter boats and fished in a couple of rivers there in Homer. He told me the names of the rivers, but I can't recall. Maybe HE should have done this post. Anyway, they caught a few big fish. They were both a little bummed because the fish were not quite "running" yet. So they didn't catch as many as they had hoped for. I guess they have a radar on the rivers they were fishing that counts how many salmon go through. While they were there, there were about 85 that had gone through, and last year at the same time, there had been 1500. BIG difference. Steve said it was beautiful up there. I think it was on like the second day he called and asked if I wanted to pack up and move to Alaska. They ended up bringing about 150 pounds of Halibut and Salmon home with them. The kids were beyond excited for them to be home. And so were Anna and I. Steve, the kids and I had never been away from each other for that long. I hope it's not something we have to do again very soon. It was SOOOO good to be home. Twelve days is WAY to long to be gone. BUT- I am glad Steve finally got to go. Even if he is already talking about "the next time"

That looks way fun and really beautiful. I envy that you have all that great seafood! :}
those are the biggest fish i have ever seen!
Looks like they had a fun time. I agree 12 days would be long. Look at all that fresh yummy fish you have. I have 2 aunts that live in Alaska and I love when they bring fresh fish.
That is so exciting. I don't think we should let the Steve's talk at all for a while. But it does look like fun. I'm jealous of all the meat. It reminds me of Washington when our freezers always had salmon in them.
