BRANDING, WINTER RANGE

We spent a few long weekends taking the cows from point lookout to bullet for branding.  We rode alot of miles, had perfect weather, and spent time with each other, family, and friends!   AWESOME!

For journaling purposes:  While we were out there one weekend,  Tayia had a pretty scary experience.  She was out riding with Steve one morning on CJ.  They were trying to get some stubborn cows to head in the right direction and CJ got spooked by a sagebrush.  Tayia wasn't ready/prepared for that and she got off balance a little bit,  her feet went back and she caught CJ with her spurs.  CJ took off at a dead run and Tay could never get him reined back in.  After covering some serious mileage with CJ running Tay finally fell off only to be run over (yes,  RUN OVER) by Steve and Rosco.  Steve had been hauling you know what to try to catch up with them.  Someone was certainly watching over my sweet girl.  No broken bones and nothing serious.  Just some shock symptoms, a very mild concussion, and some bruises.   I was a little nervous that this experience might make her scared of horses for awhile,  but the next morning the first words out of her mouth were--  Dad,  are we riding today?  I don't know if she realizes how lucky she was.  Probably not.  Steve said he hasn't been that shaken up for a really long time.   Watching an accident unfold in front of your eyes, knowing there is nothing you can really do about it.  I am still thanking my lucky stars, and my Heavenly Father for watching over my girl.  We are blessed.
