One of the reasons we went to Heber was to help celebrate Kya's first birthday. I can't believe that a year has gone by. I can only imagine what Tyler and Patti must feel about their little girl being one. My kids' first birthdays came with such mixed emotions for me. I was so happy that they were reaching a milestone in their lives, but oh so sad because they were growing up. Kya, (also known as jean-o) is such a cute little girl. So many facial expressions. She is a really happy, easy going baby. Kya enjoyed her first birthday. I think that her favorite part was for sure the cake. She went to town and then cried and cried when her mom and dad took the cake away. After she got cleaned up and was out of the high chair she started walking around and eventually found Tay and Trace sitting there eating their cake. She crouched down and just looked at them. What were the two cousins to do? After all, it WAS Kya's birthday. Of course, they started sharing with her. I would say she definitely got her fill of cake. She really loved opening presents also. Tay and Trace were right there helping her. After most everyone had gone home, I looked over to see Trace laying his head on the picnic table by the rest of the cake. Soon he started putting his little finger in and licking the frosting off. He sat and did that for 2-3 minutes. In the meantime I ran to get the camera to take pictures and there were 3 or 4 people standing around watching him just laughing under their breath. He was so busy trying to sneak more cake, that he was completely oblivious to everyone around him laughing. Eventually he looked up and saw us all, and the look on his face was priceless. It was way funnier than the pictures show. I guess you had to be there. We are so glad that we were able to be there to help Kya celebrate. We love you Kya Jean! Happy First Birthday!
